Affiliate Marketing the Easy Way
Affiliate marketing is a billion dollar industry, so it’s no wonder that so many people want to get a chunk of this fortune. Unfortunately, many people try and end up failing because they just do not know how to get started with affiliate marketing. Or, if they do know what to do to get started, they simply don’t follow through and still end up failing.
Affiliate marketing is not an extremely easy thing to do, and without the dedication necessary to make it work, you will fail at it. But if you’re willing to do what it takes to become successful at affiliate marketing, you can follow the steps below for affiliate marketing the easy way.
Step #1: Decide on a Program
As we mentioned in another article, there are many different affiliate programs available. Before you can start affiliate marketing, it’s important to do a bit of research and decide on what program to use. You could go with ClickBank, eBay, Amazon or Commission Junction, among others. What program you decide on will have a big influence on how you go about affiliate marketing.

Step #2: Decide on a Method
There are two main ways of affiliate marketing: bum marketing and web site marketing with advertising. With bum marketing, the investment is little to nothing. You simply write articles for places like Ezine and insert a link to your site at the bottom. People then go to your site, see the product you’re marketing and then either buy it or ignore it. With web site marketing, you’ll be trying to get your web site as popular as possible by paying for Adword and other advertising services. This method is a lot more costly than bum marketing, but it can also have even better results. However, for the beginner, bum marketing is more advisable.

Step #3: Create a Web Site
Many people assume that it is extremely costly to have a web site, when in fact, it’s really cheap. Domain names can be registered for less than $7 a year, while web site hosting is usually $3-$10 a month, depending on the plan. You don’t need a fancy web site for your affiliate marketing, just something that contains relevant information and promotes the product you’ve chosen to promote. If you are specializing in a particular niche (a niche is simply a particular type of product), you’ll want to register a domain name that is relevant to it and you’ll want to build a site that is relevant to the niche. You should know that the goal with your web site is to get it ranked high on search engines like Google, and to this end, you’re going to want to have unique, relevant, keyword rich content on your web site. If you aren’t a great writer, you may consider paying someone else to write this content for you.

Step #4: Promote the Web Site
Once you’ve purchased the domain and decided on a method, as well as built the site, it’s time to start promoting the web site and thus promoting your product. To this end, you’ll want to submit your web site to many different web site directories, as well as use either the bum marketing or web site marketing method discussed in step 2. The whole key here is to drive visitors to your web site.

Step #5: Keep it Updated
If you want to get people to keep coming back to your web site, you’re going to need to keep it updated. If your web site is a blog, you should try to update it daily or at least a few times a week. If it’s a more traditional web site, you’ll still want to update it at least once per week with new content. But no matter what, keep the site current, and if you do that, you’ll be rewarded with lots of visitors and (hopefully) lots of sales.
